The installation instructions, for SVR4-based OSs on diskette distribution media, on pages 2-5 and 2-6 of the Software Release Guide (SRG) are incorrect. With release 1.8, the compressed file is no longer a cpio archive file, it is pkgadd datastream file.

In step 3, on page 2-5, after uncompressing the file, go to the next step. Attempting to unarchive the file will produce an error message.
In step 4, on page 2-6, the description for device is different. Rather than the "parent directory" the full path name of the uncompressed file must be specified.

Remote printing between MPS systems will not work if the (required) '/var/spool/mps/rmt_hosts' file exists. It may work if this file does not exist.
The default form definition, MPS_DEF_F (which exists as the UNIX file /var/spool/mps/forms/MPS_DEF_F, does not perform formatting operations, which will generally result in lines that are "stairstepped" and otherwise not as expected. If this form definition has been modified, an upgrade installation will overwrite it. Therefore be sure to save this file prior to an upgrade and restore as necessary.
The default VFU definition is also overwritten during an upgrade, so if any changes to it have been made, be sure to save this file prior to an upgrade and restore as necessary.
